Moving Stills está compuesto por dos videos: uno se muestra en un monitor inclinado en el suelo, y el otro en una pantalla plana. El monitor presenta una “secuencia” de una escena de levantamiento de piedra tomada de la película Ama Lur (1973), mientras que el televisor de pantalla plana muestra un video que comienza con el uso de la técnica de la rostrum camera aplicada a fotografías fijas que representan manos (palmas extendidas con los dedos abiertos, puños cerrados, etc.). Posteriormente, estas mismas imágenes se activan mediante la táctica de “performar documentos”.

La obra traza un paralelismo explícito entre el acto de levantar piedras y el esfuerzo artístico de “mover” imágenes. Asimismo, reconoce que lo háptico se sitúa en el espacio entre la llamada imagen fija y la llamada imagen en movimiento.

EN- Moving Stills is composed of two videos: one displayed on a tilted monitor on the floor, and the other on a flat screen. The monitor shows a “sequence” of a stone-lifting scene from the film Ama Lur (1973), while the flat-screen TV displays a video that begins with the use of the ‘rostrum camera’ technique applied to still photographs depicting hands (extended palms with outspread fingers, clenched fists, etc.). Later, these same images are activated through the tactic of “performing documents.”

The work draws an explicit parallel between the act of lifting stones and the artistic endeavour to “move” images. It also acknowledges that the haptic lies in the space between the so-called still and the so-called moving image.
